ROCK HILL, S.C., US: Expanding its robust portfolio of materials and 3D-printing solutions for clinicians and dental laboratories, 3D Systems has announced two new materials, NextDent Base and NextDent Cast, in addition to a new printer, NextDent LCD1. The company’s product range already offers customers materials for a variety of clinical purposes, including the production of bridges, splints, crowns, dentures and models.

Stef Vanneste, vice president and general manager of dental products at 3D Systems, said: “We have a rich history as a leading innovator in both 3D-printing technology and dental materials. Our goal is to ensure we are addressing our customers’ needs with our solutions, and these enhancements to our portfolio are yet another step in achieving that goal.”

With NextDent Base, 3D Systems offers the third generation of its well-known denture base material. This material has improved fracture resistance, printability and impact resistance, and 3D Systems will also introduce four colour options so that clinicians can be sure of providing patients with the highest quality aesthetic removable dentures.

For laboratories and clinicians seeking to print crowns and removable and fixed partial dentures, the introduction of NextDent Cast offers improved burn-out for a stable castable part that is stronger than ever. Already available for order, parts printed with NextDent Cast are blue in colour for enhanced printability.

“Both new materials announced today are next-generation materials, specifically engineered with our customers’ feedback on earlier versions in mind. NextDent Base is a completely new formulation that demonstrates high break resistance and beautiful base shades. We firmly believe that these products will further enable the adoption of 3D printing in dentistry and improve the patient experience,” said Vanneste.

An easy-to-use printer with a smaller footprint is the best match for clinical printing needs, and the NextDent LCD1 offers the speed and auto-calibration that is ideal for low-volume printing tasks. Already three times faster than existing stereolithography printers, when combined with NextDent resins and NextDent’s post-processing Wash & Cure solution, the LCD1 creates a seamless workflow for even the busiest environment.
