SEOUL, South Korea: Imagoworks, a South Korean company that specialises in artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud-based digital dentistry solutions, launched its newest software, 3Dme Crown, late last month. This program is part of the company’s 3Dme Solutions suite and uses AI to generate an ideal crown design automatically in less than a minute using the patient’s 3D scan data.

The 3Dme Crown software automatically identifies the margin between the tooth and gingiva of the crown to be manufactured and suggests an optimised margin. Once this has been established, it creates a crown design in just a few clicks and at a speed much faster than many existing dental CAD options on the market. This crown design can then be downloaded in the dental professional’s desired format and sent to a 3D printer or milling machine for immediate production of the prosthesis. As a result, dental clinics and laboratories can produce crowns in a much shorter time, thereby enjoying the benefits of improved efficiency and productivity. The number of visits can also be reduced and patients’ treatment satisfaction increased.

What distinguishes 3Dme Crown?

According to Imagoworks, 3Dme Crown has a number of advantages over many existing dental CAD software options. Since 3Dme Crown connects to the 3Dme Cloud data management platform, users can access it immediately online without having to install a program. Crown designs can also be checked not just on computer but also on a tablet or smartphone. Another benefit is that the generated design is not based on an existing library of tooth images; rather, the software’s AI allows it to suggest a crown design optimised for the patient’s oral environment through deep learning.

In a press release introducing 3Dme Crown, an Imagoworks representative said that the company plans to include a function by September that will enable the user to modify the crown design and that it will also soon integrate the automatic design of bridges.
